Riley joined the "I've shot a deer" club Saturday morning. We went to the land Friday night to spend the weekend. Riley stayed home so he could go hunting with Grandpa Strong Saturday morning. Grandpa came and picked him up at 6 in the morning and they headed up Spanish Fork canyon to Sheep Creek. I guess as the story goes they got up the canyon and realized they didn't have all the components for the muzzle loader gun they were using. Grandma came to the rescue and meet them at the gas station at the mouth of the canyon. They went back up the canyon and saw a deer and guess what? - It was a buck. Riley jumped out of the Samurai and took a shot. Grandpa said "Did you get it", Riley said "I don't know" so grandpa started loading another shot but the deer never crossed the road. They were pretty sure Riley got it.
Grandpa bought Riley to our land to show us the deer. Riley had shot the deer right in the head. He really mangled the skull where the horns connect. I can't believe he got a deer the first time he went hunting. Riley said it didn't feel like hunting because he didn't hike his butt off.
Sueki was guarding that deer the whole time it was there.
A big thanks to Grandpa for taking Riley hunting. A big thanks to Grandma for saving the hunt and meeting them at the gas station.

Yea! When I met you at the gas staion I thought, "this is no good, you should be on the mountain this very minute or you don't have a chance!" I couldn't believe it when you called an hour and 15 minutes later and you had one! I think this was one of the highlights of your grandpas life to share this with you!
