It was so much fun. It was cold but we all finish and had a great time.

Thanksgiving with the Fox's

Usually on Thanksgiving every year we at least get together for pie.

We have been calling it the "Pie Party"

Last year at the Pie Party Uncle Joe said that since it was his turn to do the party he wanted to do a whole Thanksgiving dinner. We haven't done a big Thanksgiving dinner together since before my Grandma Fox passed away.

I was nice to get together.

Familes Are Forever................so you better just get used to them. :) JK

This are the beautiful flowers me and my co-workers bought for Scott's funeral.
A few years ago when my husband moved into the same office as us, I started calling them by there full names "Scott Strong" and "Scott Gale"
Scott Gale always got a kick out of it when I would yell out across the office "Scott Strong" to talk to him and "Scott Gale" when I wanted to talk to him.

It turned out to be such a nice day.

It was one of those funerals where you were almost happy at the end.

When you start to remember all of the things that he could do now that his broken body won't let him do before. The stories his brothers told where great. I learned so much about him.

I know him and my dad will have many great discussions in heaven.

They really had so much in common.

The LOVE of BYU sports for one thing.

It is so nice to the know the Gospel is true and I will see my good friend Scott Gale again.

I still miss him though. I think of him every time I walk by his desk.

Every once in awhile I still catch myself thinking at work when I have a question

"Scott Gale will know" but he is no longer there to help me.

I miss you Scott Gale.

Dirty Dash 10k 2011

We had such a great time participating in the Dirty Dash this September 24th.

When I signed up I told everyone I was only going to do the 5k (take the short cut)

but I was having too much fun and ended up doing the whole 10k.
Riley was sick that morning and was unable to join us.

Scott and Jason where the champions. They finished in about 1 hour and 32 minutes.
Me and Cassie along with my girl friends from work finish it in around 2 hours and 15 minutes.
We stayed together. It was funner that way.

We loved it so much we are already talking about next years.

They are having one in June and September next year so we are going to sign up for both.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

(Hopefully Riley can join us this time. We missed him and know he missed the fun)

I was so happy to be in the room when my new niece came into this world.

It is such a great feeling watching the miracle of birth.

She is so beautiful!
Yvonne decided a few months before that she was going to meet her daughter early.
She was right. After a walk around Hoogle Zoo on Prestyn's birthday Makenna was born two days later. (a month before her due date)

It is always fun for the kids to meet there new cousins.

I love this little girl.

Day #4 Zion's Vacation Labor Day Weekend

We cleaned up camp and made one last bus ride to the lodge.

We went our separate ways at this time because Scott had to get home and get some sleep before work the next day.

It was a great camping trip. I love Zions National Park.

I want to go back soon.

Day #3 Zion's Vacation Labor Day Weekend

We decided for day 3 we would take all the kids on the Riverside Walk. Witch is a paved 2 mile walk before the Narrows Trail.

The beginning of the Narrows Trail.

Here is the end of the paved trail.

We started dividing up and find our walking sticks.
Britney and Edris said they would stay with there kids so that their husbands, Scott, Riley, Jason, Tyree and me could go adventure on the Narrows Trail.

The Narrows is rated a strenuous hike which is 9.4 miles round trip.

You spent most of your time in the river.

As you can see in this picture there where some very deep stops along the way.

This picture is looking down stream.

This is about 2 or so miles in. It was the first time we stopped and dare take out our cameras.

These two pictures are looking up stream.

Note the waterline on Mark. He is about 6' 4", I was swimming in some places to say the least.

We were having so much fun we decided to keep on going.

This is where we turned around.

We all hiked just above this waterfall.

Here is an example of how we got done from the waterfall.

We re-energized here and decided we better turn around and get back the ladies with the crazies.

We figured we did over half the trail so probably 6 or so miles round trip.

Day #2 Zion's Vacation Labor Day Weekend

We took the kids on two little hikes on day 2.

The first one we did was called Weeping Rock.

It was just a half mile walk on a paved path.
The cut out area of the rock was really cool.

It is hard to tell in the pictures but it was weeping water over the top of us.

We got up early so we had the trails to our selves.

It was so beautiful there.

The second hike we did was called Emerald Pools.

There were two pools you could hike to.

We did both so it was about 2 miles round trip.

As usual my favorite part is the lush green growing through the red rock.

Just before the first pool there was this beautiful waterfall you walked under on the trail.

Here is a resting spot in the shade at the first pool.

On the way to the second pool we passed through this narrow area with a tree growing up through the middle.

Yeah we made it to the second pool.

One thing I learned in Zions National Park is always to look up.

It is usually your best views.

We stayed at the end for quit awhile and enjoyed the nature we saw.

The first day we just set up camp. I really liked the campsite.
It had a cool little stream that went around the campsite.

School already?!?!!? I can't believe it.

It was really weird this year to only send off two kids to school.

Cassie is so excited to go to Middle School.

It is so different to have a girl at this age.

She cares about so many different things then the boys did.

Freshman in High School, can you believe it?

Learners permit?!?!?!? I'm not ready for that.

It is really nice to have both kids in the same school.
I only have to worry about one faculty, one start time and one drop off point.
I love you too.
Have a GREAT 2011 - 2012 school year.

Cassie's 12th Birthday Party

I can't believe my baby girl is 12 years old.
She has been calling herself preteen for about two years.
Now she really is.

We had fun planning her 12th birthday party.
She wanted to do something fun and different so I thought of pedicures.

We made these paper doll magnets for each of the girls.

We went to the mall for pedicures.
It was the first time the girls had pedicures. I think they really enjoyed themselves.

All of their toes turned out very cute.

We ended up painting our figure nails too at home in between playing the Wii.

I took them to the eatery for dinner.
They all chose Panda Express.

Girls always love the mall.

Playing the Wii is always a party favorite.

Pioneer Days 2011

I started the Pioneer Days Weekend with my 20 year class reunion on Saturday July 23rd.

We had a great turn out. I was the first reunion I had attended. It was great to see everyone that came. It was a lot of fun.

Then came the parade. It is a tradition to ride in the Pioneer Parade your 20 year reunion year.
This too was a lot of fun.

We ended up with more people then we started with.

When someone saw someone that belonged in our class in the crowd, a group of the guys went and grabbed them and made them jump on the trailer.

Cassie was also in the parade with her tumbling group CETA.

She loves to tumble on the streets on the side of the truck instead of on the trailer.

Scott tried to get a picture of her in action but it just didn't work out.

The Nielsen Family Reunion

The Nielsen side of the family (Scott's Grandma Jane Nielsen Strong's side of the family)

has there family reunion every year after the parade.

Before Spanish Fork grew you could trace at least 1/4 of the population to this family.

When Riley turned 16 we always teased him to make sure he was related to a girl before asking them out.

I think Scott made sure of the spelling of my last name (Nelson)before he asked me out.

Aunt Floss has been my friend even before I joined the family.

We meet when I lived with my Grandma Fox who lived across the street from them when I was 11 years old. Now that I own that same house we are still neighbors and friends.

Aunt Kathleen is a Great lady. I have loved being in her ward and neighbor these past years.

I don't know Aunt Norma has well as the others because of not living next to her but she is a great lady who comes from a great family.

Afton Chambers ask Riley to the girl's choice dance "MORP" and the last dance of their senior year.

Four of the couples had a paint war before the dance.
The Dance was an outdoor dance so they went to it with there paint on.

Afton's sister came to Salem pond and took the groups pictures.

She did a really good job. I love these pictures.

Riley had a great time. It was a good way to end his High School career and add to his life time of memories.

End of the School Year Activities

Jason took his first year of guitar this year.

He bought the guitar with his own money.

I'm very proud of him. He has done very well with it.

It was a great program. They played a lot of fun songs.
I hope he keeps it up. It will be a great hobby for him.

Cassie 6th grade play turned out really good.

One of the teachers wrote a play about the Kansas girls in 1999 that did a school project and found out about a women in Poland named Irena Sendler who saved Jewish children during the war.

Irena would go to the Jewish families in the Warsaw ghetto and ask them to trust her and let her take their children to safety until the end of the war.

She kept the real names of the children and their parents names in a jar buried under a tree.

The Kansas girls wrote a play "Life in a Jar" which became very popular and played over and over again.

Irena was captured and torched but never gave up the secrets of the Jewish children she helped. Because of the Kansas girls Irena was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Cassie played a member of the Zogota (the counsel to aid Jews)

They helped get the children out and into safety.

Cassie and her class did a very good job.

Vacation Highlights

It was my plan to go on a big vacation before Riley graduated. I think we succeeded.

We had a great time. The cruise ship was fun. The excursions were wonderful.

The food was exquisite and the memories made were priceless.

We were able to experience things that were very new to us.
Snuba Driving in Cabo San Lucas was the first excursion we went on.

I have decided that Scuba diving might something I would like do over and over again.

I just loved it.

The kids voted the Horse Back riding there favorite activity of the trip.

They all want us to buy horses and raise them at our land.

Snorkeling in a cove off the coast of Puerto Vallarta.

We saw some great wildlife.

This was the second excursion we did.

We rode a boat to a village on a private beach and rode horses to a waterfall.

Then we rode the boat to the cove to do some snorkeling.

Last but not least, we rode the boat to another secluded beach to have lunch.

The time was well spent with eating, Kayaking and relaxing.

The beach was just beautiful.

I can't wait until we can plan our next big adventure as a family.

My first 5k "walk"........

Saturday me and my work friends went to Payson and participated in the "Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge".

I am the odd man out because they are all related.

Teresa and Dianne are sisters. Teresa is Britany and Shelby's mom and Dianne is Kamele's mom.

I work with Teresa, Britany and Kamele.

Teresa and I before it started.

Me and Kamele after it ended and still having a great time. Teresa and the girls ran most of the first mile. They finished in 45 minutes. Dianne ran the first little bit and then I caught up with her and we fast walked the rest. I'm not a runner......even if I weighed 100lbs and was in great shape I won't be a runner. I have bad ankles and knees but I walked it and I'm proud of that. Dianne and I finished in 55 minutes. We where very proud to have finished our first 5k in under an hour. That makes for a under 20 minute mile. It was a lot of fun. We are doing one together again in May.

I can't wait!

Cali Trip with the Girls

At the end of February I had the opportunity to go to Lakewood California for a "Sewing" Weekend. Some of my Dave's Bernina friends and I went to Sondra's (another Dave's customers) house to sew and sew and sew. We drove there Wednesday and stayed until Sunday.

Sondra's friend Gwen also meet up with us. We got along great and became the bestest of friends.

She had a beautiful home.
We did take the afternoon's off to see some sights.
Thursday we went to Seal Beach and had lunch at Walt's Wharf.
Friday we where on a mission to find a quilt shop.
We found a really cute one in Tustin CA called the "Flying Geese"
We asked the ladies there where would be a good place for us to eat and they suggested "Rutabegorz". It was excellent.
Saturday we stayed in all day and guess what?
We sewed!!
Sondra also had a beautiful home inside.
We all felt right and home there.

She made sure we had plenty of the essentials "CHOCOLATE!!!"

We all were very pleased with how many projects we got done.

Tis the Season!

This is the wreath I bought for the cemetery. We had a great Christmas Party at my mom and brothers house earlier in the month.
We did our gift exchanging with the cousins and siblings.
Christmas Eve was great too.
We exchanged gifts with the cousins that night.
And of course PJ's for all!!!

I think everyone had a great Christmas Day this year.

Riley got a new camera.

Jason got a new bike.

Cassie got a new camera and little laptop.

I got the rest of the pieces for my nativity scene.

Scott got a key board for his i-pad.

This year Thanksgiving with the Strong's was at Grandma Strong's church.

It was a fun filled day of eating, jumping rope, playing basketball and playing Wii.

We set up two Wii game systems with projectors.

BYU Fans (well I am)

I might be the only mom who "makes" her family go to at least one BYU football game a year.

Scott will only go to one.............but that is OK because he lets me go to as many as I want to.

Riley decided he was too cool to have fun at a BYU game but he has enjoyed it in years past.

My brother is always up to enjoy a game. I think he likes someone to go with him.

Cassie and Jason enjoy it still.

I think they like the food the best.

This game was Homecoming vs San Diego State.

It is always fun to go to games that they win too.
Game 2 was November 6th which is a risky time of the year to go to a game.
There might be snow!!!!!
But we where lucky this year.

At half time they recognized the 100 year birthday of the Scouting program.

Riley choose pheasant hunting over the BYU game so Jason brought his friend Beau.

They had a great time together.

As promised no Scott this game but we still have fun.

This game was vs UNLV................well the score board says it all.

Because of the great weather and the fact that we knew it was our last game of the season to go to we played around a little after the game.

I like to think of the great memories we are building together if nothing else.

This year we did pumpkins at Yvonne's house.

Some of us carved, some of us painted and some of us used stickers this year.

Cassie always paints hers.

She did a bumble bee theme the same as her costume.
Jason carved his this year.
I think he did a great job.

Riley just did the sticker thing.

I had a great time carving mine.

Mark (Bubble) did some carving and some painting.

I think his BYU basketball turned out great.

My mom painted hers too.

She is a good artist.

Prestyn had a great time.

October Weekends

October 16th we went for a 4-wheeler ride in the Indianola area.

I had a great time. It was the first ride we had done all year.
My brother and the dog's had a great time as well.

Sue enjoyed her rest in the trailer.

Look close, it looks like she is coping Jason and putting her arm on the edge of the trailer.

The next weekend we stayed at our land.

My mom, brother, Cassie and I were there while Scott, Riley and Jason went deer hunting.

Cassie made this during our stay.

I think she is very cute.

So that Saturday was the opening of the deer hunt and my baby #2's 14th birthday.

So the mighty hunters came and visited us at our land to celebrate Jason's birthday.

I surprised him with Cold Stone cupcakes and a i-pod.

Grandma made him a nice card and what ever teenagers loves most MONEY!

I've decided those cupcakes are my new favorite dessert.

I'm not sure it is a good thing that Riley got a job at Cold Stone.

It was a great evening.

Homecoming - Class of 1991 Returns

I had a lot of fun getting ready for my Homecoming Assembly.

For years I have been thinking about this Assembly and how cool it will be to have Riley be there as a Senior Class of 2011. One problem.........Elk Hunt......he wasn't able to be there, Oh well I still had fun.

We got a group of us together to make a video to show at the assembly.

We thought it would be easier to make a video then do a live skit.

We made sure the mullet had a big part in the program.

Last Minute Summer Fun in August!

We had the fun opportunity of taking care of Prestyn while his mom and dad went to the DMB concert. We decided to spend sometime at the Library Park.

He sure can throw a football.

Scott knows how to keep a child entertained. Prestyn loves video games.

Of course we played at the playground at the park too.

We spent one Friday evening with the Judy Family in Morgan Canyon. Here is a picture of what we think was a baby rattle snake. Look at the diamond shaped head.

We didn't make it to 7-peaks this year but we did spend a evening at the Provo City Pool.

It was a lot of fun. They do have a great slide and no long lines.

Prestyn had a good time too. He loved the slides and the pool. Not so much the slashing sprinklers but....................he had a good time.

Last but not lest we had a girls night at the bowling isle while the boys where scouting for elk.

It was a lot of fun.

First Day of School 2010

Well my third baby Cassie Verbena is in 6th grade.

She was excited to start school. She had fun picking her school clothes this year.
My first baby James Riley is a Senior this year. Yes I said Senior! I can't hardly believe it.

My middle baby Jason Scott is in 8th grade. He is a good student.

I think he is ready to have a good year.

I love that this year Riley is able to take Jason to school.

It makes my life a little easier.

I think Riley had a good birthday.

I wasn't sure what to do for Riley for his birthday but I thought of a great plan.

I told him he could take 4 friends out to lunch and then surprised him by letting him take them to Tucanos. I understand they had a great time.

The three July birthdays at the Strong's potluck.Cassie has been calling herself preteen for over a year now but she is really getting closer now as her 11th birthday came to pass.
Opening presents at potluck is always fun for the kids (and adults, LOL).

She loves the hat that grandma gave her.

She got many great presents this year.

Uncle Bubble's (James Mark) House Tear Down

Here is a picture of my brothers home.

My brother was able to purchase this home in 1999 at the age of 20.

Everyone was very proud of him.

It had a basement apartment plus we lived there for a year while saving money for our house.

During that time Bubble was very wise with our rent and the rent money from the apartment and made double payments on the home.

Around 5 or 6 years ago mom and dad sold there home and moved into the apartment.
It worked out great for both parties.
The church decided to purchase the home and tear it down so that in the future they can expand the church that is next to his home.
It was sad to see it go. It was a good home.

I don't think Mark realized how sad it would make him to see his pride and joy go down.

He got a good price for it though.

He wanted to stay in the neighborhood and keep mom in the same ward.

He bought a great house just a block down the street.

I think all and all it work out OK and him and mom are happy in the new house.

A Very Special Stadium of Fire Celebration

This year was the Boys Scouts of America's 100th anniversary in America so the Stadium of Fire decided to have the biggest Eagle Court of Honor for there 4th of July celebration.

Riley qualified for his Eagle earlier this year so he was able to participant.

There was 261 fine young men getting there Eagles in the stadium that night.

Isn't he such a cutie!

Lou Diamond Philips was the host of the evening.

This is a picture I secretly took of him on stage with us while someone else is preforming.

Riley got to shack his hand and called him "Chavez" from the movie Young Guns. He laughed.

It was VERY COOL!

These are the pictures Scott took from the stands.

They had the regular Boy Scouts caring in flags for the open of the program.

Jason participated in that.

Here we are walking on the stage.

I guess yellow was a good color to wear so Scott could find me.

We ended up being behind the man conducting which put us on the big screen.

Jason watched the rest of the program from the field.

Cassie was just happy we went to see Carrie Underwood.

It was a very good performance.

Riley says, " Carrie Underwood was so lucky to be on the same stage as me. Heck she was so happy she started singing and dancing because of it."

Jason's next job was to be a blue glow stick holder for the border of America on the field.

Oh and the firework show was fun too.

Family Home Evening Boating Trip

I'm not sure whose idea it was but I got a call Monday (June 14th) that the Strong's were meeting at Lincoln Beach to go for a ride in Grandpa's new boat.

Look at the smile on Grandpa's face.....Do you think he likes his new toy?

Oh by the way that is Riley's good friend Talon who came along for the ride as well.

Look at them go! At least 30 miles an hour......Wow!
Nate took his boat out as well making sure it was ready for the Strong family camp out.
James, Edris, Grandma and myself thought we were going for a nice smooth ride with Nathan
but we where wrong................

"Aaaaahhhhhhh", said Grandma has she was holding on for dear life.

Nate showed us how donuts where done on the water.

All and all we had a good time.

I'm glad we had this family outing especially since we were unable to go to the family camp out.

Thanks to who ever had this great family outing idea.

I looked up some other site seeing we could do while we were down south. Off the freeway between Cedar City and St. George is Kolob Canyon which is part of Zions National Park. It was a nice little drive though a canyon with beautiful scenery. At the end of the drive was a spot where you could stop and take in the view. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side. It wasn't as cold there but it started to rain. This time I was the only one who got out of the and took some pictures. At least everyone enjoyed the ride.

When we where down in Cedar City for the Summer Games we stayed at the Brian Head Sky resort. That Saturday we went for a ride on a loop from Brian Head to Cedar City. We stopped at the Cedar Breaks National Monument. Although it was June 12th, when we stopped at the outlook it was 42 degrees. I made the family get out of the car and see the beautiful view and get some pictures.

Utah Summer Games!

June 10th we attended the opening ceremonies of the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City.

Cassie was an athlete that proudly marched in.

There was so many different sports participating.

This is a picture of the athlete in center field.

Cassie watched a lot of the concert on one of her coaches shoulders.

The torch made two trips around the track.

Lighting the torch was a very cool.

After the program there was a great fireworks show.

It was the best part. I haven't seen a fireworks show in a long time.

The next morning was the competitions.

Cassie got two first place and one third place medals.

I haven't been doing much lately but working 45 to 48 hours a week and working on my house.

I'm so behind on my sewing projects that I use for gifts. It makes me happy to make things and give them away. It makes me sad that I haven't been gifting alot lately.

But the house project is so close to being done. I haven't been blogging the house project because I want to do a big before and after reveal when it is done.

In way of starting to catch up the blog here is some pictures of Mother's Day weekend.

We broke away from work and working on the house to have a picnic with my side of the family. It turned out to be a great day. We thought the weather might be bad but it held out for us.

2010 Prom

I can't believe my baby boy went to Prom last weekend. It was so cool to see him in his Tux. He loved wearing it. He said the shoes were his favorite part. I'm glad he has such good friends to go with on a group date.

You can tell they didn't practice promenade. They didn't realize they were suppose to stop for pictures.

Spare of the moment Easter trip.

We hadn't planned anything for Easter weekend but they needed us to leave our house for the weekend so they could refinish our wood floors.

A few months ago Scott and I got an email talking about the new bridge crossing the Hoover Dam. We thought it would be a good trip this summer to take the kids there before it was finished. So we decided to go to Vegas for the weekend and spend sometime at the Dam.

We took the kids on the Power Plant tour inside the Dam.
It was very interesting.
(I forgot to change my glasses before going underground)

I was cool walking through the tunnels.

This will be a unique picture is a few years with the unfinished bridge in the back round.

I love my family.

They say the tall waterline is from the water level in 1985.

Here is my family half in Nevada and half in Arizona.

We had a good time.

Jason was the funniest in Vegas.

First when we got there at 11:30pm (Nevada time -12:30 Utah time) on Friday night Jason wanted to know what we where going to do first because we where in the "City that never sleeps"

So we said we would take a ride down the strip and see the lights THEN he put on his sun glass.

I laughed and said it is dark out, he said "MOM, I still need to look cool"

It turned out to be a good Easter Weekend/Family Vacation.

New Calling

Well my first assignment in my Relief Society calling was to make a poster we can update each month with a calendar for the hallway by the Primary and Young Women's room and to also to decorate the bulletin board in the RS room.

This is what I came up with. I found these clips I could use in the middle of my posters.

So basically I made and decorated a BIG clip board.

Stamp Class

At this month's stamp class we didn't even stamp once.

Kira found these great eggs for us to cover.

I think they turned out so cute.

We used some of Stampin -Up's paper.
I love these pinks and greens.

These two are my mom's creations.

She went will more of the purple look to match her Easter decor.

Letley Strong

This is what I have been working on lately.

I made it for my new niece miss Letley Strong.

It was a lot fun to make.

I love the applique embroidered flowers.
Then I quilted the same flower on the opposite block.

This is the back. I love this fabric line.

Very Neat Experience

Last week I had a neat experience. I went to my boss's house to notarize some papers for him. While I was there he should me "his" book. I'm pretty sure it is his prized position. About three years ago Deseret Book sold some assets on there asset list. On that list was the first Book of Mormon off the printing press in 1830 that Martin Harris gave his brother Elmer Harris. Elmer was able to hide and keep the book safe during all the turmoil. The Harris family donated it to the church in the 1960's and some how it got on that asset list. As soon as my boss found out about it going up for sale he purchased the book. He told me he plans on donating it back to the church with the condition they never sell it again and it possibly gets in the wrong hands. Anyway he wanted to take my picture with it. It was a very humbling experience to hold that 180 year old book.

Helper Competition 2010

Cassie did great this competition. She got a good night sleep, didn't get as nervous and was more aggressive.

Her coaches and I have been giving her talks about being more aggressive.

"Just going for it" It doesn't matter if you fall and she did much better.

She got second place on the trampoline.
Fifth place on the floor and sixth place on the double mini.
Even though her places weren't real high she did GREAT! So much better then last month.

Valentine's Day

Riley was asked to the Sweet Hearts Dance.
Riley wanted a Valentine's tie, he choose this great pink one.

The stuffed animal for her was my idea.

He wasn't sure about it saying "girls think stuffed animals are lame"

I explained to him that he was wrong............girls love stuffed animals.

Natalia was the lucky girl.

I suspect Riley is a fun date. He seems to have fun.

I think they turned out so cute.

I made them for my nieces and nephews for Valentine's Day.

Not a lot of labor but I think they turned out cute.

Sad Day

We had our Young Women's New Beginnings recently.

The sad thing is a week or so before we had it they gave me the sad news they were releasing me.

The president had been in over three years so they released her. Even though I have been in only a year when they change the president they change the whole organization.

It really broke my heart.

We had to keep it a secret during New Beginnings because they hadn't called the new presidency.

I made these little clip boards with some calendar items on them for the year to give the girls.

I talked about the importance of attending the weekly activities and how they can be testimony building experiences.

Our theme was "YW like Butterflies"
I made these handouts for the girls and there parents talking about how the Personal Progress program can help the YW grow from Caterpillars into Beautiful Butterflies.

I will miss working with the Youth but is was a fun year.

Vegas Vacation

Friday night we went for a ride in Las Vegas.

This is a picture of the skyline of Vegas from the parking lot of the Temple.
I love the the style of this temple. It is called the a modern, six-spire design.
Very beautiful at night.

Saturday it rained and rained and rained.

I had to keep reminding myself we where in the desert.

Some of the intersections had drainage problems.

Like any little boy, Scott had fun playing in the puddles.

Then the night I've been waiting for.......

It was the best concert I have ever been to.

4 1/2 hours of great entertainment.

LeeAnn Womack (with brown hair) was good.

My favorite memory of LeeAnn was when she came back on stage and did a duet with Reba "Does He Love You"

Reba is my favorite!!!!!

She was the very first concert I went to in 1989. It was GREAT!

I saw her again my Senior year of High School in 1991.

It was very fun to see her again.

George George George!!!!!

Gorgeous George Strait, this is the first time I have seen him live but I have very early memories of him and have been an admirer of his "Wrangler Butt" for years.

My dad had his albums on good old eight tracks tapes.

Being raised in Arizona his favorite song of course was "Ocean Front Property"

He was great in concert.

I think Scott even enjoyed himself a little.

I know he loves me!

Sewing Class in St. George

Scott and I were going to St. George this weekend on our way to Las Vegas anyway so when I heard there was a class at the new Dave's Bernina down there on Thursday I talked Scott into coming down a day early. It was kind of funny because the teacher of the class, Shannon White lives a block away from me and here we are in St. George teaching and taking a sewing class together.

First 2010 Tumbling Competition

Cassie did very well her first competition this year.

I think her nerves got the best of most of the day but she wants to keep working on her skills and not being nervous.

Anyway we had a fun potluck on the Strong's side of the family on Sunday the 24th.

We also got together with Grandma Nelson the Saturday before to celebrate but I didn't get any pictures.

Scott surprised me this year with a nice watch. He usually can't keep a secret that long so I am very proud of him.

About three years ago I surprised him with a really really nice watch for Christmas so I think he was trying to get even with me.

I had a great #37 birthday - not bad, not bad at all.

Aprons, Aprons and more Aprons!!!

I owed Sara one for her birthday in December.

My beautiful niece Penina shares the same birthday as me.

She has been waiting a long time for her apron. Her two older sisters got theirs on there birthdays back in May.

I know I know Cassie's birthday is in July but I just got her apron done.

I think Sara was surprised HOW much more prego she looked in the apron.

New Year Weekend

We went to our land Saturday January 2nd for the day.

Scott played on top of the trailer cleaning off the snow. He only almost fell off the trailer once.

It was Scary!!!!
Cassie loved making tracks in the snow.

I think the dogs had the most fun of all.Sitting around the fire, cooking hot dogs and roasting marshmallows.......

and drinking hot chocolate.

Jason was at a scouting activity so dad helped make the snowman.

"What a good Daddy!"

Scott made the bottom.

Riley made the middle and Cassie made the head.

My job was the face, hat and arms.

Weekend in Salt Lake City

We got tickets the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert again this year.

We got a Hotel room for Saturday night.

Kids' favorite part is starting the weekend with swimming in the hotels pool.

They always have a good time.
After swimming we walked around Temple Square.
The lights are always so beautiful.

Cassie loved getting her picture taken in front of the Temple.

I'm sure Jason had a good time as well.

This year Riley was at the school Christmas Ball the same night so we invited Grandma Nelson to join us.

She was so excited to come with us.......she hadn't been to a Tabernacle concert before or hadn't been to see the lights on Temple Square for awhile.

After this we went and had dinner at Applebee's. It was a really good evening.

The concert was Sunday morning and was beautiful. Scott and I have been three years in a row and the kids twice. Every time is great. I must say the Sunday concert is my favorite because the Prophet will talk at the end and give the guess performers a gift. It is a pretty neat experience.

Gingerbread Houses

Young Women In Excellence

Me and the other leaders had a lot of fun getting ready for our wards YW In Excellence night. We went with a Princess theme - "Daughters of our King"

I made the invitations and attached them to a beautiful princess wands.

We made these head dresses with the value colored ribbon.

We had all of the value colors on the tables.

We serviced dinner starting with a salad.
We had soup and these great rolls that one of the lady's ordered.

I think everyone had a great time.
We weren't sure if the girls would wear the head bands we made but they seem to have fun with them.

Happy Birthday Jason!

My second teenager.

I think Jason had a good birthday.

We had a good celebration at the Strong's at potluck.
And of course we had a celebration with Grandma Nelson too.

Jason likes that he gets Halloween themed cakes and cupcakes.

Jason's birthday was on a Friday so after work we took him out to dinner at his favorite place "The Chinese Gourmet"

Then we took him to Walmart and picked up his new DSi gameboy........

He was so HAPPY!!!!!! He is my gamer child.

Deer Hunting Weekend!

The first weekend of the deer hunt Scott and Riley stayed in the "deer hunting" trailer and me and the other kids stayed at our land in our other trailer.

Saturday night we drove over and visited the deer hunters.

They were road hunting.

Well right after we turned around and were going back to the trailer to wait for them Scott shot his deer.
I hiked up the mountain and took some pictures of them dragging it down the mountain.

It was a pretty nice three point.

Football Fun!

Last year I took Riley to a couple of BYU football games so this year I decided to take the whole family.

It is the 25th anniversary of the 1984 Cougar National Championship. Notice the lite blue "Y" flag on the left and the dark blue flag back on the right. The lite blue one is what the college colors where in 1984.

My brother came with me and the kids to the first game.

(Scott hates football by the way)

Teenagers can't ever look like they are having fun with there family but I know Riley had fun both games.

I love football and I'm glad I was able to take my family to two games.

After the first game Cassie wanted her picture taken with the flag at the stadium.

The second game was at night and Scott came to this one.

We had a great time at both games.

By the way these are called "cougar tails"

It is the biggest maple bar I have ever seen in my life.

They were soooooo good.

I think Scott would even go to another game if I buy him another cougar tail.

Stewart Falls Hike #2

We wanted to do the Stewart Falls Hike again in the fall to see the changing leaves. I think we timed it just right.

The views were just beautiful.

We have such a good time the whole hike.
The girls sang Disney princess songs while me and Sister Shawcroft were doing our best just to keep up with them.

We brought our sack lunches (dinner's). Sister Shawcroft brought extra bread, peanut butter and jam to share but...........forgot a knife. We had to be eventful.
